Naumi Hotel - Singapore

Singapore is one of the world’s great cities. Expanding rapidly, it is an international hub for trade and finance, and as one would expect, is a hive of activity. Huge skyscrapers are springing up around the city centre, and there are plans afoot to expand the city by up to 30% in the coming years.

With all of this building there is of course no shortage of recently opened shiny new hotels – each bursting with desirable facilities like valet parking, business centres and 24 hour service. It is nevertheless hard to build up enthusiasm for a stay at these impersonal monsters, and we prefer to seek out those places with rather more style. For a chic boutique hotel at a reasonable price its very hard to beat the Naumi.

Based in the heart of the historic district, Naumi is in a great central spot handy for both tourism or business.

Since it received a full makeover in 2011, it has won numerous awards and upon arriving at the lobby cum lounge – greeted by attractive staff in flowing blue capes – it’s easy to see why. Naumi is designed to feel like a private home; furniture includes pieces from icons such as B&B Italia, Poltrona Frau, Moroso and Foscanni, whilst the guest rooms are cleverly fitted to make the most of their relatively modest size (space in Singapore is naturally at a premium).

Featuring warm earthy tones and exotic woods there are plenty of luxurious extras. From the king sized beds that feature 400 count Egyptian cotton, to organic Malin & Goetz toiletries, huge flat screen Apple TV’s, and giant rainforest showers; you are always aware that no expense has been spared on providing the very best.

Those nice little extra touches are everywhere: magic shower glass that turns opaque with the flick of a switch, free mini-bars, a complimentary evening drink, turn down service, yoga mats (on request) and a quieter ‘privacy’ floor available at no extra charge.

All day dining is provided by the excellent Table by Rang Mahal (review here) (don’t even think of dining anywhere else), whilst on the rooftop, you can take in the astonishing views as you swim in the infinity pool, or sip a Naumitini as you watch the sunset over the harbour.
